Bill Cooper, managing director – global head of insurance and specialist finance, Lloyds Bank
Bill Cooper joined Lloyds Bank in 1986 as a management trainee, having graduated in History from the University of Cambridge.
He undertook a number of roles across the Bank over the next 10 years before becoming a Commercial Banking relationship manager with clients in the insurance industry in 1995. Over the last 20 years Bill has participated in, and since 2007, led the development of our business with the insurance sector in the UK and internationally. This period has seen us develop into one of the leading banks working with this key UK industry with an unrivalled reputation for consistent support of our clients.
Major landmarks in the development of the business over that time include the help we provided to businesses in the Lloyd’s Market after 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, the strong track record of helping new businesses start up in Lloyd’s, and more recently the extensive support provided to consolidators in the UK general insurance intermediary and closed life insurance sectors.
Additionally, since May 2016 Bill has had responsibility for our business in the Specialist Finance sector.
Bill is also an advisory board member for the UK Charity Changing Faces, which supports people with an unusual appearance. He has played a key role in a number of campaigns for Changing Faces, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
