Andrew Tunnicliffe, chief executive officer, 1919 InsuranceAndrew started his insurance career in 1982 with General Accident working as a commercial underwriter. In 1992 he was appointed underwriting manager for Sedgwick Management Services (Isle of Man) Limited. In 1994 he moved to London with Sedgwick (then Marsh) and held various management and leadership roles dealing with captives, programme design and alternative risk finance. In 2003 Andrew was appointed chief operating officer for Marsh UK Retail Placement and in 2004 he took over responsibility for the Marsh international construction team.

In 2005 Andrew joined Aon as director of business development for Aon Global Risk Consulting (AGRC). This responsibility covered a diverse range of risk consulting activity including actuarial and analytics; risk finance consulting; enterprise risk management; captive and insurance management; and risk control, claims and engineering. In 2010 he was appointed chief operating officer for AGRC, assuming overall responsibility for AGRC as chief executive officer in November 2011.

In March 2013, Andrew was appointed chief operating officer for ARS EMEA. During this time he was responsible for all aspects of operational excellence and change programmes across the EMEA region.

In January 2016 Andrew took on responsibility as chief executive officer for Aon Risk Solutions in the UK, overseeing all of Aon’s retail client management and broking operations in all segments including global and national UK clients, affinity, health and benefits, trade credit, real estate, and financial and professional services.

He is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute ACII. He also holds an MBA from City University (Cass) Business School in London.
